Blog # 3

1. My reaction to the ending of Flight is that i knew that Bigger was going to get caught sooner or latter, it a matter of time before they put all the pieces together.
2. A poignant quote was in the book Flight  is "He opened his eyes and saw a circle of white faces; but he was outside of them, behind his curtain, his wall, looking on"(pg. 252). I choose this quote because it shows that Bigger gave up and the white men had figured everything out. Bigger was out of himself, that is why the police caught him. The snow made Bigger freeze and made it easier for him to surrender even though that was not his choice at that moment. Bigger was not able to accomplish his dreams which were to have money for himself and for his mother. Bigger did not had a way to protect himself like he had done it all along.
3. The three books are called Fear, Flight, and Fate. The first book was called Fear because Bigger kills Mary and he is afraid that they will know he had killed her. The second book is called Flight because Bigger is running away from everything especially from the white men and the police. The third book is called Fate because he hopes that the police does not kill him.

Native Son(Mary's Killing) Thoughts

The way Bigger killed Mary was horrible. First the way he suffocated her with the pillow so Mrs. Dalton did not hear her speak and she would of came to her side and she would of noticed that Bigger was there in the room. That part was sort of an accident but then when he took her to the furnace and  was going to put her in, she did not fit in the furnace, so therefore he cut her head off so he could burn her body and get rid of the evidence. It was wrong what he did he did not had to burn her he could of just gotten rid of the pillow because that was the evidence and he could of cleaned her nails because that is another evidence; when Mary was trying to get up he was grabbing his arm and she could of scratched him or stabbed her finger nails in his arm. If i would of been him i would of just done that instead of burning her. I feel sorry for the way Mary died and the way Bigger got rid of her body.
